During the 9th Plan: Setting up the Jebel Chakir landfill and 3 transfer centers in the District of Tunis with a total cost of around 10 million Dinars; |

During the 10th Plan: Setting up 9 landfills and 40 centers for transfer of household and similar waste in the governorates of Bizerte, Nabeul, Sousse, Monastir, Kairouan, Sfax, Gabes, Medenine and Djerba island with a total cost of around 61.5 million Dinars. Funding was acquired through international cooperation; |

During the 11th Plan: 10 additional landfills and related transfer centers are scheduled during the 11th Plan in Greater Tunis to reduce the current pressure on the landfill of Djebel Chakir and in the governorates of Zaghouan, Mahdia, Tozeur, Sidi Bouzid, Gafsa, Kasserine, Beja, Jendouba, le Kef and Siliana, as well as in Kerkennah islands, with a total cost of around 72 million dinars. |
| Concerning the governorate of Tataouine, and in view of the specific nature of the region, a transfer center is scheduled for Tataouine, Ghomrassen and Bir L’Ahmar. Waste will be transferred to the landfill in Medenine. |
| As to the governorate of Kebili, 3 transfer centers are scheduled for a few cities. Waste will be transferred to the landfill under construction in Tozeur. |

Progress of projects scheduled during the 11th plan :
Completion of works for the landfill of Kerkennah islands. It is due to be operational during 2011;
Completion of works for around 70% of the landfills of Mahdia, Zaghouan and Tozeur and a call for tenders issued for transfer centers in these governorates;
Start of construction works of the second landfill in Greater Tunis ; tender evaluation for the implementation of transfer centers in process;
Start of execution study on planned projects for the governorates of the Medjerda Valley;
Preparation of tender files on the implementation of landfills and transfer centers in the governorates of Gafsa, Kasserine and Sidi Bouzid, as well as the transfer centers of Tatouine and Kebili;
A program of implementation of small transfer centers for rural areas in all governorates is in process (around 5 facilities for each governorate).
