Carriers authorized by the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development
 
puce_flech_1_.jpgConcerning hazardous waste, under Article 31A of Law 96-41 on waste management, any institution or company undertaking one or more activities of collection, separation, transportation, storage, treatment, conversion and disposal of hazardous waste is subject to prior authorization of the ministry in charge of the environment.  A detailed handbook on hazardous waste collection and transportation was implemented and can be downloaded.

pusvert.jpg Types and quantities of waste ;
pusvert.jpg Technical requirements and procedures for collection, transportation, separation, storage, treatment, conversion and disposal;
pusvert.jpg Precautions taken to ensure safety conditions;
pusvert.jpg The collection, separation, storage and disposal site.
    
Authorization is granted only after completion of approval procedures for impact assessment in accordance with regulations.
              
puce_flech_1_.jpg Hazardous waste removal and transportation must be carried out by specialized and trained companies.
Application for transportation authorization shall indicate :

pusvert.jpg Staff know-how;
pusvert.jpg Ability of the means of transport;
pusvert.jpg Insurance to pay for damages (Art. 34 al. 2 of law 96-41).

puce_flech_1_.jpg The law provides for authorizations with specific conditions and a time limit.

pusvert.jpg On the roads to use;
pusvert.jpg On the kind of waste and containers/trucks to use.

puce_flech_1_.jpg Normally, the transportation of hazardous waste is subject to the provisions on the transportation of dangerous materials in addition to those of the law on waste. The international regulation on the carriage of dangerous goods by roads (ADR), to which Tunisia subscribed, involves a number of obligations; for example, an appropriate indication (plate) must be affixed to the carrying vehicle indicating the nature of the carried materials and of the risks.

Law no. 97-37 of 2 June 1997, on the carriage of dangerous goods by road and order of the Minister of Transport of 19 January 2000, establishing warning labels and distinctive indications concerning the carriage of dangerous materials by road.
